Mouth-waterin chili

FRITZ'S in OVERLAND PARK, KS

Fritz's Chili carrys on the tradition of Dixon's Famous Chili, a favorite of Harry Truman. Fritz's fixtures are over 40 years old.

The chili consists of lightly-seasoned ground beef, with or without beans. If you want more, you add it. Onions. Cheese. Hot sauce. Ketchup.

DIXON'S FAMOUS CHILI in INDEPENDENCE & LEE'S SUMMIT, MO

The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum in his hometown Independence, Mo., just east of Kansas City lists Dixon's in its Social Places where Truman frequented, starting when it opened in 1919 downtown.

The Dixon's near the Arrowhead Stadium complex is over 50, and the newest opened in Lee's Summit five years ago. Dixon's has more variety than Fritz's, ladeling chili over tamales, spaghetti, tacos, hot dogs, and more. But they both have the all-meat, or plus beans, base to decorate to your taste.
